OpenLab is the essential online platform where NYC College of Technology students and staff manage their academic life, from courses and assignments to announcements. If the platform isn’t fully accessible, it creates significant barriers to education for many users. I conducted a WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility audit focusing specifically on the platform’s recently redesigned main navigation menu. This case study presents the detailed findings and clear evidence of the friction points across both logged-in and logged-out views. It outlines actionable solutions to ensure the OpenLab provides truly equitable access for the entire City Tech community.
