The Long Island Zoning Atlas, developed by CUNY Mapping Service, is an interactive map that provides detailed zoning patterns and residential housing legislation information across Long Island, NY. Following its launch in 2023, the aim was to expand the website’s core users and use cases, making it more intuitive for both researchers and those interested in zoning information. To achieve this, 15 moderated usability tests were conducted to understand user behavior and impressions. The findings from these tests informed recommendations to improve the website’s user experience and broaden its appeal.
